The itinerary
at a glance

For your 8-day tour from Innsbruck to Riva del Garda

Welcome briefing and bike fitting. For the rest of the day, we recommend visiting Innsbruck’s famous old town with its city tower and its “Golden Roof”.

You will pedal on the former Treidelweg path along the river Inn, at the foot of the Martinswand (mountain face) and through little villages and market towns to Stams, with it’s baroque Cistercian convent. Then, you will continue your tour via Haiming to Imst, the so-called “Merano of North Tyrol”. Visit the Zams Monastery before reaching Landeck in the Upper Inn Valley.

Today's royal stage takes you steadily uphill along the Inn Cycle Path to Martina in Switzerland. From here the route leads further over the Resia pass to Italy (the Resia pass can also be bridged by bus from Landeck for an additional charge). You will be rewarded with a magnificent mountain panorama for the certainly demanding climb.

Your day starts towards Glurns, where you can explore the completely preserved medieval town walls. Then, you will cycle via the Montani ruins, through Silandro, down to Merano. On your way, you will come across some pretty castles, the most famous is probably mountaineer Reinhold Messner’s castle Juval and you will get marvellous views of the impressive mountain massif Ortlermassiv and the mountain pass Stilfserjoch. You can almost always take the Venostatrain to travel a part of your journey.

Today’s stage will take you via Lana, with it’s famous Schnatterpeck Altar and through numerous orchards and vineyards in the area of the South Tyrolean Wine Road, past many fortresses, castles, and ruins such as Hocheppan (famous frescos), to Lake Caldaro. Leaving the charming wine town behind you, you will cycle via the Montiggler lakes, past Sigmundskron to Bolzano (arcades, “Ötzi” museum).

From Bolzano, you will cycle along the river Adige on a beautiful bike path that is rich with orchards to Salorno, where the German speaking part of South Tyrol ends and afterwards to the historic centre of Trento accompanied by the vineyards of “Teroldego” vines.

Today, you will cycle on bike paths along the river Adige via the old Tyrolean border town of Rovereto to Mori. From here, the route leads westward to Lake Garda. In Mori you will taste the world-famous pistachio ice-cream in the Gelateria Bologna or a freshly squeezed fruit juice. After a short climb onto Passo S. Giovanni (150 metres), you will head down to the lake to Torbole or Riva.

Level

Athletic cyclist

Daily stage lengths of more than 80 kilometres don’t worry you, and hilly stretches with some tough climbs are a must. You spend a lot of time on the bike so you’re fit and have plenty of stamina. You have a need for speed, so it’s got to be a sports bike, gravel bike or road bike for you.

Topography

The stages of this tour take you through flat terrain with a few slight inclines. There is one long climbs to tackle from Landeck to Reschen.

Road conditions

You will mostly ride on cycle paths and low-traffic farm roads.

Route-finding & navigation

You will navigate by yourself using maps and/or GPS data.

Fancy some extra power?

On this sporty cycling tour, an e-bike can give you an extra tempo boost!

Sporty tour + e-bike = more momentum and energy

You think adventure, calf workouts and e-bikes are mutually exclusive? Far from it, we say! Cycling with electric power can open up whole new worlds of cycling.

Concept

For cycling holiday connoisseurs who already appreciate the advantages of e-bikes and who would like to cover longer distances at a brisk pace, the combination of an e-bike & a sporty cycling tour offers a new adventure in the form of longer distances and more challenging terrain.

Even those who are not (yet) fit enough but are still craving a sporty PEDALO bike tour should go for it - and treat themselves to an e-bike for support. With a gentle push, it gets you right into the thick of it all!

Or are you travelling as a couple and your partner is always ahead of you? With an e-bike, you will be able to keep up easily.

Your travel documents usually include general travel information, a hotel list, a road book and/or detailed maps as well as a textual description of the route; you will also get luggage tags and possibly also vouchers and/or information material on the various sightseeing attractions. The exact contents of the information package depend on the booked trip and its included services.

The documents will be sent to you approx. two to three weeks before the start of your tour. Depending on the trip, you may receive them partly in digital form and partly by post – or you will receive the hotel list and general travel information in advance by e-mail, and the remaining documents along with the maps on site at your starting hotel.

Please note that the travel documents are issued exclusively for PEDALO guests and are therefore not available without a booking.

The transport of your luggage from hotel to hotel is included as part of the basic service package for all staged tours and round trips in the PEDALO programme. You simply leave your luggage out for our courier in the morning before you set off on your cycling stage. When you arrive at your next accommodation in the late afternoon or early evening, it will be there waiting for you.

Just in case, we recommend always packing a change of clothes in your saddle bag, especially for short stages which you may cover more quickly than the luggage driver.

Depending on how the logistics are organised on site, there may be restrictions on the maximum weight and/or number of pieces of luggage. You will receive more detailed information on this with the travel documents well before the start of your trip.

Travel insurance is not included in our prices. You can decide whether to get a quote elsewhere or simply book your travel insurance online at pedalo.com/en/service/travel-insurance. In any case, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance!

Please note that for last-minute bookings (less than 30 days before the start of the trip), insurance cover can only be taken out within 3 days of booking.
