This variation of the beautiful Moselle Bike Tour starts in the capital of Lorraine and guides you via the border triangle of Germany, France, and Luxembourg into the historical Trier and Koblenz, where the Moselle flows into the Rhine River. Numerous vineyards on both sides of the river and breathtaking natural landscapes will constantly accompany you and promise delightful cycle tours.

On this bike trip you follow a more than 2000-year-old Roman history, in the true sense of the word. Thereby you cycle through historical cities and charming villages and you get to know the famous fruity wines which you can taste.

The itinerary
at a glance

For your 6-day tour from Metz to Koblenz

Individual arrival into the capital of Lorraine located in northeast of France. Almost endless numbers of different sights wait to be explored. The bikes will be delivered the next morning to your hotel

Your first stage leads over Thionville, located in the border triangle of Germany, France, and Luxembourg. Close to Perl you will pass Schengen. This small village became well-known due to the Schengen agreement. Finally, in Perl you have the chance to visit the Roman villa.

Today you follow the young course of the river leisurely past Grevenmacher and Wasserbillig to Konz, where the Saar flows into the Moselle. You then cycle just a few more kilometers until you are greeted by the Roman city of Trier. Take a worthwhile tour of the city and marvel at the imposing cathedral, the wide main market, the Imperial Baths, the amphitheater and the Porta Nigra. With these impressions in your luggage, you will quickly cycle along the flat Moselle cycle path to Trittenheim, where you will spend the night in an idyllic wine village.

Soon you reach Piesport, where you can view the Roman cellars from the 3rd century. Make a further stop in Neumagen-Dhron, Germany´s oldest wine village, or in Bernkastel-Kues with its famous wine "Bernkasteler Doctor". Only a short cycling distance separates you from Zeltingen.

You cycle through the winegrowing region "Kröver Nacktarsch" until you reach Traben-Trarbach. Many vineyards accompany you on both sides of the river. Traben-Trarbach offers many architectural masterpieces of art nouveau and Belle Epoque. Your route takes you through the wine region "Zeller Schwarze Katz" and finally ends in Zell.

Early you arrive in Beilstein, widely known as "Rothenburg on the Moselle River". Cochem is worth seeing, for example the charming center as well as the Reichsburg castle from the 11th century. After a short cycling distance, you reach Treis-Karden where you also have the possibility for a wine tasting.

After about 5 kilometers you should make a side trip to the medieval castle "Burg Eltz", which counts among the most beautiful and best-preserved castles of Germany. Located in the heart of nature it offers magnificent views.

Back to the Moselle bike path you pass numerous charming wine villages, before you reach your final destination Koblenz. The center is situated at the confluence of the Moselle River and the Rhine River and is extremely well-suited for a walking tour.

In Koblenz there is much to discover. If you are interested in, we would be pleased to book some extra nights for you.

Sporty tour + e-bike = more momentum and energy

You think adventure, calf workouts and e-bikes are mutually exclusive? Far from it, we say! Cycling with electric power can open up whole new worlds of cycling.

Concept

For cycling holiday connoisseurs who already appreciate the advantages of e-bikes and who would like to cover longer distances at a brisk pace, the combination of an e-bike & a sporty cycling tour offers a new adventure in the form of longer distances and more challenging terrain.

Even those who are not (yet) fit enough but are still craving a sporty PEDALO bike tour should go for it - and treat themselves to an e-bike for support. With a gentle push, it gets you right into the thick of it all!

Or are you travelling as a couple and your partner is always ahead of you? With an e-bike, you will be able to keep up easily.

Your travel documents usually include general travel information, a hotel list, a road book and/or detailed maps as well as a textual description of the route; you will also get luggage tags and possibly also vouchers and/or information material on the various sightseeing attractions. The exact contents of the information package depend on the booked trip and its included services.

The documents will be sent to you approx. two to three weeks before the start of your tour. Depending on the trip, you may receive them partly in digital form and partly by post – or you will receive the hotel list and general travel information in advance by e-mail, and the remaining documents along with the maps on site at your starting hotel.

Please note that the travel documents are issued exclusively for PEDALO guests and are therefore not available without a booking.

The transport of your luggage from hotel to hotel is included as part of the basic service package for all staged tours and round trips in the PEDALO programme. You simply leave your luggage out for our courier in the morning before you set off on your cycling stage. When you arrive at your next accommodation in the late afternoon or early evening, it will be there waiting for you.

Just in case, we recommend always packing a change of clothes in your saddle bag, especially for short stages which you may cover more quickly than the luggage driver.

Depending on how the logistics are organised on site, there may be restrictions on the maximum weight and/or number of pieces of luggage. You will receive more detailed information on this with the travel documents well before the start of your trip.

Travel insurance is not included in our prices. You can decide whether to get a quote elsewhere or simply book your travel insurance online at pedalo.com/en/service/travel-insurance. In any case, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance!

Please note that for last-minute bookings (less than 30 days before the start of the trip), insurance cover can only be taken out within 3 days of booking.
