The itinerary
at a glance

For your 5-day round trip in the Salzburg area

Arrival to Salzburg - the culturally rich city of Mozart. Take enough time for a stroll through the old part of the city and visit the Mozart´s Birthplace.

Your bikes are available in the booked hotel.

You follow the course of the Salzach river and soon reach Hallein. The salt mines, which have been closed since 1989, can be visited in the show mine (optional). A detour into the romantic Bluntau Valley is worthwhile for the more energetic. In Golling, you should plan enough time to visit the waterfall, which is well worth seeing.

Cycle on via Werfen, where Hohenwerfen Castle towers high above the Salzach. The famous Eisriesenwelt is also worth a visit. In Bischofshofen you can admire the ski jump, where the final of the Four Hills Tournament is held every year.

St. Johann is home to the famous Liechtensteinklamm gorge, a huge natural spectacle with a 50 m high waterfall at the end of the gorge. You can quickly get to Bruck an der Glocknerstraße on your bike. The high alpine road to the 3,797 m high Großglockner, Austria's highest mountain, is climbed by post buses to Franz-Josefs-Höhe from the beginning of July.

Sporty cyclists can also cycle around Lake Zell, while leisurely cyclists can use the lake for a refreshing dip. An evening stroll along the esplanade will remind you of a more southerly location and make you forget the daily grind completely.

Via Maria Alm with its famous pilgrimage church, you quickly reach Saalfelden, which is perfect for a lunch break. Other highlights on your way to Lofer are the Seisenbergklamm gorge and the Lamprechtshöhle cave near Weißbach. You should allow some time for these visits (optional).

On today's stage, you cycle through the tranquil Saalachtal valley. Bad Reichenhall in the small German corner will enchant you with its Bavarian flair. Just a short distance and you have reached your destination, the Mozart city of Salzburg.

The rich cultural offerings will delight you. You should plan enough time for a stroll through the old town and a visit to Mozart's birthplace (optional). The journey home takes place in the afternoon - unless you would like to extend your stay.

Your travel documents usually include general travel information, a hotel list, a road book and/or detailed maps as well as a textual description of the route; you will also get luggage tags and possibly also vouchers and/or information material on the various sightseeing attractions. The exact contents of the information package depend on the booked trip and its included services.

The documents will be sent to you approx. two to three weeks before the start of your tour. Depending on the trip, you may receive them partly in digital form and partly by post – or you will receive the hotel list and general travel information in advance by e-mail, and the remaining documents along with the maps on site at your starting hotel.

Please note that the travel documents are issued exclusively for PEDALO guests and are therefore not available without a booking.

The transport of your luggage from hotel to hotel is included as part of the basic service package for all staged tours and round trips in the PEDALO programme. You simply leave your luggage out for our courier in the morning before you set off on your cycling stage. When you arrive at your next accommodation in the late afternoon or early evening, it will be there waiting for you.

Just in case, we recommend always packing a change of clothes in your saddle bag, especially for short stages which you may cover more quickly than the luggage driver.

Depending on how the logistics are organised on site, there may be restrictions on the maximum weight and/or number of pieces of luggage. You will receive more detailed information on this with the travel documents well before the start of your trip.

Travel insurance is not included in our prices. You can decide whether to get a quote elsewhere or simply book your travel insurance online at pedalo.com/en/service/travel-insurance. In any case, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance!

Please note that for last-minute bookings (less than 30 days before the start of the trip), insurance cover can only be taken out within 3 days of booking.
