The itinerary

For your 8-day tour from Krimml to Passau

In Krimml you find the largest European waterfall. On a well-designed trail you can admire this natural spectacle. Your bikes will be available at the booked accommodation.

Your tour goes through the "Nationalpark Hohe Tauern" and "Oberpinzgau", where you will constantly see snow-covered mountains with a highness of 3,000 metres.

On this trail you will have a fabulous backdrop with lush green meadows and small villages. In Kaprun you can visit the "Hochgebirgsstauseen" (high-mountain reservoir).

At "Zeller See" (Lake Zeller) you can take a refreshing bath or if you are a very sportive biker, you can still insert an extra round. You will cycle through "Maria Alm" with its famous pilgrimage church.

The lunch break you can enjoy in Saalfelden. Other highlights on your way to Lofer are the Seisenbergklamm and Lamprechtshöhle near Weißbach.

Today will lead you mostly through the Saalachtal. Bad Reichenhall in the ´small German angle´ will enchant you with Bavarian flair. After a short distance you will have reached Salzburg, the city of Mozart. The cultural offer will embrace you.

You should allow yourself enough extra time for a stroll through the city and a visit to Mozart´s birth house.

You will leave Salzburg and its Alps. On this route you are cycling through the foothills of the Alps. The "Tauern" ends in Tittmoning and from here you have to follow the trail along the Lower Inn before you will reach your destination Burghausen. It is a magnificent old town and has the largest castle complex in Central Europe.

Today you cycle along the river Inn up to Braunau. This town is perfect for taking a lunch break.

On your way there are numerous bird colonies. From here you can follow the bike path on the Bavarian or Austrian side. Your destination Obernberg has a well-known marketplace with Baroque buildings.

You will soon reach "Stift Reichersberg" which is worth a visit. On your route along the river Inn, you will cycle through small towns like Schärding. At its Baroque market square, you can take a break. Not far and you will have reached the final destination of this beautiful bike trip: Passau.

The three-river city has much to offer. In the cathedral of Passau, you will see the largest church organ in the world. A river-cruise would certainly be a grand finale of this wonderful bike ride.

In Passau there´s a lot to discover. We would be appreciated to book an extension of your trip.

Occasional cyclists

You prefer flat terrain, but you won’t be put off by the occasional hill. There has to be the right mix of breaks, nature and culture. You enjoy exercise and bring some stamina and cycling experience to the table.

Topography

Despite its name and the surrounding mountains, the Tauern Cycle Path leads you along the Salzach and Inn rivers through flat to slightly hilly terrain. There are three "long" climbs to tackle in order to avoid busy roads.

Your travel documents usually include general travel information, a hotel list, a road book and/or detailed maps as well as a textual description of the route; you will also get luggage tags and possibly also vouchers and/or information material on the various sightseeing attractions. The exact contents of the information package depend on the booked trip and its included services.

The documents will be sent to you approx. two to three weeks before the start of your tour. Depending on the trip, you may receive them partly in digital form and partly by post – or you will receive the hotel list and general travel information in advance by e-mail, and the remaining documents along with the maps on site at your starting hotel.

Please note that the travel documents are issued exclusively for PEDALO guests and are therefore not available without a booking.

The transport of your luggage from hotel to hotel is included as part of the basic service package for all staged tours and round trips in the PEDALO programme. You simply leave your luggage out for our courier in the morning before you set off on your cycling stage. When you arrive at your next accommodation in the late afternoon or early evening, it will be there waiting for you.

Just in case, we recommend always packing a change of clothes in your saddle bag, especially for short stages which you may cover more quickly than the luggage driver.

Depending on how the logistics are organised on site, there may be restrictions on the maximum weight and/or number of pieces of luggage. You will receive more detailed information on this with the travel documents well before the start of your trip.

Travel insurance is not included in our prices. You can decide whether to get a quote elsewhere or simply book your travel insurance online at pedalo.com/en/service/travel-insurance. In any case, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance!

Please note that for last-minute bookings (less than 30 days before the start of the trip), insurance cover can only be taken out within 3 days of booking.
