The itinerary
at a glance

For your 6-day location-based tour in the Stockholm area

Take your first stroll through Sweden ́s capital and explore some of the many sights and tourist attractions.

Along lake Mälar you cycle to the island of Lovön, where UNESCO world cultural heritage palace Drottningholm is awaiting you. Take your time to explore the beautiful palace, the Chinese Pavilion dating from the 18th century as well as the palace garden. You continue your tour across bridges on to the island of Södermalm. The former working class district today is inhabited by hipsters, small stores and independent designers. You also pass the old town of Stockholm, Gamla Stan with its cobblestone alleys, lopsided houses and inviting coffee shops and the island of Skeppsholmen with impressive modern art sculpture garden.

A stay in Stockholm without visiting the archipelago just wouldn ́t be it. Therefore today ́s bike tour is bringing you to Vaxholm, the idyllic small town which is also known as “capital of the archipelago”. Look forward to nice restaurants, small shops, an impressive fortress from the 16th century as well as a lively boating culture. The ferry back to Stockholm departs regularly and takes about an hour.

Today's tour leads you to world cultural heritage Skogskyrkogården (woodland cemetery), which is according to the UNESCO an outstanding example for the mergence of architecture and landscape. Learn more about the cemetery in the visitor centre, or book a guided tour. Your goal is the idyllic bathing village of Saltsjöbaden before you return to Stockholm.

Look forward to nature as far as the eye can see! In the morning a diversified choice of museums is awaiting you on the island of Djurgården. Cultur- as well as Sweden lovers are visiting the Nordic museum or Vasa museum, those who prefer it more interactive pass by at Junibacken (the Astrid Lindgren museum) or the ABBA museum. You will also pass Skansen, the world ́s oldest open-air museum as well as art museum Prinz Eugens Waldemarsudde. Enjoy the views onto the port entrance where cruise ship captains are showing their skills during successful docking maneuvers. You continue your bike tour to the north where Palace Ulriksdal is awaiting you.

After breakfast your bike tour ends. We are happy to extend your holiday with extra nights in Stockholm.

There are places in the world of cycle touring that are just so picturesque and diverse that once you have arrived, you can't tear yourself away. They have so much to offer that you will struggle to decide which direction to cycle in first. These special spots are where we at PEDALO have created our location-based tours just for you.

Keep riding, but always stay in the same place

In contrast to staged tours and round trips, you won't cycle from place to place, and thus from hotel to hotel. Instead, you will stay in one and the same accommodation for the duration of your cycling holiday. This hotel will be the starting point for fascinating cycling excursions in the surrounding area. Every day, there will be new routes for you to explore. Every evening, you will return to hosts who put their heart and soul into their work and offer you a pleasantly cosy atmosphere with a healthy dose of class. Instead of having to pack your bags each day, you simply get to ride your bike and enjoy your holiday.

For beginners, improvers - and anyone seeking a breath of fresh air

This type of cycling holiday is designed for anyone who likes to take it easy. If you’re feeling a bit too sore for cycling or the weather isn't looking good, you can simply take a day off. Location-based tours are also ideal for first-time cyclists who may not yet know exactly how much they can or want to tackle in a day. No unnecessary stress, just pure freedom - so your tour can be all about the joy of cycling!

Your travel documents usually include general travel information, a hotel list, a road book and/or detailed maps as well as a textual description of the route; you will also get luggage tags and possibly also vouchers and/or information material on the various sightseeing attractions. The exact contents of the information package depend on the booked trip and its included services.

The documents will be sent to you approx. two to three weeks before the start of your tour. Depending on the trip, you may receive them partly in digital form and partly by post – or you will receive the hotel list and general travel information in advance by e-mail, and the remaining documents along with the maps on site at your starting hotel.

Please note that the travel documents are issued exclusively for PEDALO guests and are therefore not available without a booking.

Travel insurance is not included in our prices. You can decide whether to get a quote elsewhere or simply book your travel insurance online at pedalo.com/en/service/travel-insurance. In any case, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance!

Please note that for last-minute bookings (less than 30 days before the start of the trip), insurance cover can only be taken out within 3 days of booking.
