The itinerary
at a glance

For your 8-day tour from Metz to Koblenz

Individual arrival into the capital of Lorraine located in northeast of France. Almost endless numbers of different sights wait to be explored.

The bikes will be delivered the next morning to your hotel.

Your first stage leads over Thionville, located in the border triangle of Germany, France, and Luxembourg. Close to Perl you will pass Schengen. This small village became well-known due to the Schengen agreement. Finally, in Perl you have the chance to visit the Roman villa.

From Perl the river Moselle marks the border between Germany and Luxembourg. On both sides of the river vineyards rise up. They will escort you almost as far as Koblenz and offer wonderful panoramic views.

You will reach your today´s destination over Konz, where the river Saar flows into the river Moselle. Trier is the oldest city of Germany and you can explore 2000 years of history there.

Before you continue along the Moselle you should schedule some time to visit the well-known amphitheater as well as the Porta Nigra. An educational trail along your route reports on domestic grape variety. Close to Piesport you will pass Neumagen-Dhron which is Germany´s oldest wine village.

Taste a glass of wine in Piesport - for sure this could be a nice finish of this beautiful cycle day!

Soon you will reach Bernkastel-Kues where many alleys and colorful half-timbered houses will impress. In any case you should taste the well-known "Bernkasteler Doctor" (local produced wine). On your further way you will pass the wine growing district named "Kröver Nacktarsch". A boat ride might offer beautiful views on the surrounding vineyards (not included). You have reached your today´s destination with Traben-Trarbach. The city offers many architectural masterpieces of art nouveau and Belle Epoch.

Today the vineyards will again escort your way. Enkirch is a trinket of half-timbered houses and ideally suitable for a brake. Always following the river Moselle, you will pass another famous wine growing district which is called "Zeller Schwarze Katz". Cycling over Beilstein, widely known as "Rothenburg on the Moselle River", you will soon roll into Cochem. The charming center and the castle from the 11th century are just some highlights. Take enough time for a visit.

After a short distance you should make a side trip to the medieval castle "Burg Eltz", which counts among the most beautiful and best-preserved castles of Germany. Located in the heart of nature it offers magnificent views. Back to the Moselle bike path you pass numerous charming wine villages, before you reach your final destination Koblenz. The center is situated at the confluence of the Moselle River and the Rhine River and is extremely well-suited for a stroll

In Koblenz there is much to discover. If you are interested in, we would be pleased to book some extra nights for you. Our transfer from Koblenz to Metz is very comfortable (possible daily, departure: directly from the hotel, reservation required at time of booking).

Your travel documents usually include general travel information, a hotel list, a road book and/or detailed maps as well as a textual description of the route; you will also get luggage tags and possibly also vouchers and/or information material on the various sightseeing attractions. The exact contents of the information package depend on the booked trip and its included services.

The documents will be sent to you approx. two to three weeks before the start of your tour. Depending on the trip, you may receive them partly in digital form and partly by post – or you will receive the hotel list and general travel information in advance by e-mail, and the remaining documents along with the maps on site at your starting hotel.

Please note that the travel documents are issued exclusively for PEDALO guests and are therefore not available without a booking.

The transport of your luggage from hotel to hotel is included as part of the basic service package for all staged tours and round trips in the PEDALO programme. You simply leave your luggage out for our courier in the morning before you set off on your cycling stage. When you arrive at your next accommodation in the late afternoon or early evening, it will be there waiting for you.

Just in case, we recommend always packing a change of clothes in your saddle bag, especially for short stages which you may cover more quickly than the luggage driver.

Depending on how the logistics are organised on site, there may be restrictions on the maximum weight and/or number of pieces of luggage. You will receive more detailed information on this with the travel documents well before the start of your trip.

Travel insurance is not included in our prices. You can decide whether to get a quote elsewhere or simply book your travel insurance online at pedalo.com/en/service/travel-insurance. In any case, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance!

Please note that for last-minute bookings (less than 30 days before the start of the trip), insurance cover can only be taken out within 3 days of booking.
