The itinerary
at a glance

For your 9-day round trip in the Gizycko area

Individual arrival in Masuria - by car directly to your accommodation or by train or plane to Warsaw. We recommend regular bus service from Warsaw to Giżycko. For those travelling by car, we provide guarded car park (payable on-site). In the afternoon, bicycles and information materials will be handed over.

After breakfast, we take a short bus journey (about 60 km). The first cycling tour is a pleasant route through forest and country roads, passing through numerous villages. On the way, we will cross the historical border of East Prussia and head east. You will have the opportunity to admire the beautiful Lake Selmęt.

Today's excursion initially leads to Studzieniczna, where you can visit a small monastery, picturesquely located on a peninsula. Then, following the Green Velo trail, we will set off along the Augustow Canal and through the Augustow Forest, until we reach our hotel, which is located in the area of the Wigry National Park.

On this day, you will set off on a trip around Lake Wigry. The cycling route leads mainly through the Wigry National Park. The most valuable monument on this route is the former Pokamedulski Monastery in Wigry (built between 1694 and 1745), which has a very beautiful location directly on the Wigry Lake. In the afternoon you will visit the multimedia museum of the Wigry National Park.

Today, the bikes stay in the garage while you spend the day on the water, conquering one of the most beautiful stretches of the Czarna Hancza River. The wild and unspoilt nature always makes a big impression on tourists. The canoe route is not difficult, so anyone, even a beginner, can manage it.

After a tasty and healthy breakfast, you will leave the Wigry National Park area and head to Suwałki, where you will have the opportunity to visit the Alexander Orthodox Church and the classicist town hall. After the sightseeing, you will leave the city, head north, and continue cycling towards the village near the Suwałki Landscape Park, where another overnight stay is planned.

Today you will be cycling through the Suwalki Landscape Park. It is a place extremely rich in unspoilt nature, picturesque landscapes and abundant fauna including many species of birds. Along the way, you will admire the magnificent postglacial landscape - with numerous hills and small lakes. Then you will head towards Stańczyki, a village known for its high railway viaducts, that have probably never been used. The route also takes you close to the Romincka Forest, all the way to Gołdap.

The last cycling tour leads through forests in a southerly direction. In the heart of the Borecka Forest, you will have the opportunity to see the breeding grounds of Europe's largest mammal - the European bison. You will reach the destination of today's tour, the town of Giżycko - the sailing capital of Masuria, in the late afternoon. After sightseeing in the town overnight in Giżycko.

Individual return of participants to their homes.

Your travel documents usually include general travel information, a hotel list, a road book and/or detailed maps as well as a textual description of the route; you will also get luggage tags and possibly also vouchers and/or information material on the various sightseeing attractions. The exact contents of the information package depend on the booked trip and its included services.

The documents will be sent to you approx. two to three weeks before the start of your tour. Depending on the trip, you may receive them partly in digital form and partly by post – or you will receive the hotel list and general travel information in advance by e-mail, and the remaining documents along with the maps on site at your starting hotel.

Please note that the travel documents are issued exclusively for PEDALO guests and are therefore not available without a booking.

The transport of your luggage from hotel to hotel is included as part of the basic service package for all staged tours and round trips in the PEDALO programme. You simply leave your luggage out for our courier in the morning before you set off on your cycling stage. When you arrive at your next accommodation in the late afternoon or early evening, it will be there waiting for you.

Just in case, we recommend always packing a change of clothes in your saddle bag, especially for short stages which you may cover more quickly than the luggage driver.

Depending on how the logistics are organised on site, there may be restrictions on the maximum weight and/or number of pieces of luggage. You will receive more detailed information on this with the travel documents well before the start of your trip.

Travel insurance is not included in our prices. You can decide whether to get a quote elsewhere or simply book your travel insurance online at pedalo.com/en/service/travel-insurance. In any case, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance!

Please note that for last-minute bookings (less than 30 days before the start of the trip), insurance cover can only be taken out within 3 days of booking.
