You will cycle on wonderful paths through unspoilt nature to Lake Riegsee. We recommend taking a short detour to the charming town of Murnau with its nice market street and many attractions. On the way back, you will be delighted by the picturesque Lake Osterseen, a group of 20 lakes which are among the warmest lakes in Germany.

After today's bike ride you can understand them - the monks, the nuns, and the priests - why they have built 159 churches in this area and a lot of monasteries. The Pfaffenwinkel is a wonderful spot, which can be best explored by bike. Places like the historic town of Weilheim with its car-free Marienplatz invite you to take a quiet break.

The day will start with a train ride to Munich. What could be better than exploring the attractions of the Bavarian capital by bicycle? Beautiful biking routes will lead you through the English Garden from one highlight to the next. Then, the Isar cycle path will lead you to Wolfratshausen and continue through the rolling hills back to Lake Starnberg.

You will spend a day in the famous Pfaffenwinkel. A particular highlight is waiting the cyclists. Monastery Andechs not only has a lot to offer for the culture-hungry. Also the beer garden is one of the most beautiful ones in Germany. A nice walk will take you to Lake Ammersee and to Herrsching. Of course, you can also get there by bike. Afterwards, you will soon be back at Lake Starnberg.

The loop tour around Lake Starnberg is really beautiful and it will lead you from one lake town to the next. Not only the homes of the Bavarian celebrities lie along the way, also quaint shady beer gardens, Italian ice cream parlours and dreamy bathing places shape the image of today's cycling tour.

How does a location-based tour work?

There are places in the world of cycle touring that are just so picturesque and diverse that once you have arrived, you can't tear yourself away. They have so much to offer that you will struggle to decide which direction to cycle in first. These special spots are where we at PEDALO have created our location-based tours just for you.

Keep riding, but always stay in the same place

In contrast to staged tours and round trips, you won't cycle from place to place, and thus from hotel to hotel. Instead, you will stay in one and the same accommodation for the duration of your cycling holiday. This hotel will be the starting point for fascinating cycling excursions in the surrounding area. Every day, there will be new routes for you to explore. Every evening, you will return to hosts who put their heart and soul into their work and offer you a pleasantly cosy atmosphere with a healthy dose of class. Instead of having to pack your bags each day, you simply get to ride your bike and enjoy your holiday.

For beginners, improvers - and anyone seeking a breath of fresh air

This type of cycling holiday is designed for anyone who likes to take it easy. If you’re feeling a bit too sore for cycling or the weather isn't looking good, you can simply take a day off. Location-based tours are also ideal for first-time cyclists who may not yet know exactly how much they can or want to tackle in a day. No unnecessary stress, just pure freedom - so your tour can be all about the joy of cycling!

What info material will I receive for my bike tour?

Your travel documents usually include general travel information, a hotel list, a road book and/or detailed maps as well as a textual description of the route; you will also get luggage tags and possibly also vouchers and/or information material on the various sightseeing attractions. The exact contents of the information package depend on the booked trip and its included services.

The documents will be sent to you approx. two to three weeks before the start of your tour. Depending on the trip, you may receive them partly in digital form and partly by post – or you will receive the hotel list and general travel information in advance by e-mail, and the remaining documents along with the maps on site at your starting hotel.

Please note that the travel documents are issued exclusively for PEDALO guests and are therefore not available without a booking.

Should I take out travel insurance?

Travel insurance is not included in our prices. You can decide whether to get a quote elsewhere or simply book your travel insurance online at pedalo.com/en/service/travel-insurance. In any case, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance!

Please note that for last-minute bookings (less than 30 days before the start of the trip), insurance cover can only be taken out within 3 days of booking.
