The itinerary
at a glance

For your 6-day location-based tour in the Constance area

Take the opportunity to visit the island of Mainau, wander through Constance’s old town or visit the aquariums in the Sea Life Center and go to the Archaeological Museum.

Today you take the car ferry to Meersburg and from there you cycle to Friedrichshafen. From here you continue along the Lake Constance Cycle Path to Langenargen and through neat little villages such as Wasserburg and Nonnenhorn to Lindau, the Bavarian „metropolis in the lake“. The historic old town on the island is a popular destination for visitors. In the afternoon, take the scheduled boat back to Constance.

Today you explore the „flower island“ Mainau. Bicycles are not allowed on the island, park them at the entrance and reach the island via a bridge. Countless flowers bloom here - tulips in spring, roses in summer and dahlias in autumn. But also the castle, the palm garden, the butterfly house, the arboretum and many other attractions want to be discovered by you.

First you cycle to Wallhausen, from where the boat takes you to Überlingen on the other side of the lake. You cycle along the lake to the Birnau monastery church, where you can enjoy a great view of the lake. On the Prälatenweg (prelates‘ path) you cycle leisurely to Salem, where you can visit not only the castle but also the Affenberg (monkey mountain) (not included) with over 200 semi-wild Barbary macaques. From Meersburg the car ferry takes you back to Constance.

Your first destination is Reichenau Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001. A boat takes you to the Höri peninsula to Gaienhofen, where you can visit the Hermann Hesse House. You then cycle further along the Höri peninsula via Hemmenhofen, where Otto Dix lived for a time, to Stein am Rhein. The return journey takes you through small Swiss fishing villages back to Constance.

After breakfast you start your individual return journey home or extend your stay.

There are places in the world of cycle touring that are just so picturesque and diverse that once you have arrived, you can't tear yourself away. They have so much to offer that you will struggle to decide which direction to cycle in first. These special spots are where we at PEDALO have created our location-based tours just for you.

Keep riding, but always stay in the same place

In contrast to staged tours and round trips, you won't cycle from place to place, and thus from hotel to hotel. Instead, you will stay in one and the same accommodation for the duration of your cycling holiday. This hotel will be the starting point for fascinating cycling excursions in the surrounding area. Every day, there will be new routes for you to explore. Every evening, you will return to hosts who put their heart and soul into their work and offer you a pleasantly cosy atmosphere with a healthy dose of class. Instead of having to pack your bags each day, you simply get to ride your bike and enjoy your holiday.

For beginners, improvers - and anyone seeking a breath of fresh air

This type of cycling holiday is designed for anyone who likes to take it easy. If you’re feeling a bit too sore for cycling or the weather isn't looking good, you can simply take a day off. Location-based tours are also ideal for first-time cyclists who may not yet know exactly how much they can or want to tackle in a day. No unnecessary stress, just pure freedom - so your tour can be all about the joy of cycling!

Your travel documents usually include general travel information, a hotel list, a road book and/or detailed maps as well as a textual description of the route; you will also get luggage tags and possibly also vouchers and/or information material on the various sightseeing attractions. The exact contents of the information package depend on the booked trip and its included services.

The documents will be sent to you approx. two to three weeks before the start of your tour. Depending on the trip, you may receive them partly in digital form and partly by post – or you will receive the hotel list and general travel information in advance by e-mail, and the remaining documents along with the maps on site at your starting hotel.

Please note that the travel documents are issued exclusively for PEDALO guests and are therefore not available without a booking.

Travel insurance is not included in our prices. You can decide whether to get a quote elsewhere or simply book your travel insurance online at pedalo.com/en/service/travel-insurance. In any case, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance!

Please note that for last-minute bookings (less than 30 days before the start of the trip), insurance cover can only be taken out within 3 days of booking.
