The itinerary

For your 10-day tour from Gdansk to Riga

Individual arrival in Gdansk. Accommodation in a hotel. In the late afternoon, there will be a guided tour of the restored Gdansk Old Town. After the tour, there will be a handover of bicycles and information materials.

After breakfast a short transfer and then the first cycling tour towards Malbork. After the bike tour, we will visit the impressive castle of the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order, built in the 13th century (since 1998 on the UNESCO World Heritage List).

After breakfast, a cycling trip to Buczyniec, where a boat cruise on the Elbląg Canal begins. This canal is one of the most interesting waterways due to the technical solutions used to overcome differences in height. Unique technical devices such as ramps, built in the 19th century, are a unique tourist attraction on a European scale. A scenic cruise on the canal provides unforgettable views.

Today's cycling route leads along the shore of the Vistula Lagoon through the Elbląg Upland Landscape Park, and then through Kadyny to Frombork. In Kadyny, there used to be a stud farm of Kaiser Wilhelm II. In Frombork, it is worth visiting the Cathedral Hill, which is a complex of historical buildings. The most valuable of these is the Gothic cathedral, but also noteworthy are the former Bishop's Palace (now the Copernicus Museum), Copernicus Tower and Radziejowski Tower.

After a short tour, another cycling trip through the picturesque area of Warmia begins. On the way, to Lidzbark Warmiński, you can visit the Castle of the Bishops of Warmia, the High Gate and the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. Another attraction is the monastery in Stoczek Klasztorny, where the Primate of Poland, Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński, was interned.

After breakfast, transport (approx. 300 km) to Lithuania. In the afternoon, a cycling tour through the Nemunas Delta Regional Park begins. During the trip, you can visit Cape Vente, where there is an interesting ornithological station and an octagonal historic lighthouse.

We will start the day with a cruise across the Curonian Lagoon to Nida. In Nida we will visit Thomas Mann's house, the Kurland cemetery and can enjoy the beautiful landscape of the Curonian Spit dunes. A beautiful cycle route takes you through forests and old fishing villages towards the north. In Juodkrantė you will visit the Witch Mountain and an interesting cormorant colony. After the ferry crossing, you will reach Klaipėda by bike, where we recommend an evening walk through the old town. The main point is Theatre Square with the monument to ‘Anna of Tharau’.

The cycling route leads along the picturesque coastline of the Baltic Sea, where you can enjoy the beauty of the coastal nature. On the way, we will visit the summer capital of Lithuania Palanga, which is famous for its beaches, unforgettable sunsets, pier and amber museum. You will reach the small, old but very interesting village of Kuldiga by bus (approx. 120 km). In this charming village, you will discover its attractions on your own, such as the wooden houses, the Venta waterfall and the historic bridge.

You will set off from Kuldiga by bicycle, passing through a very unspoilt landscape in which Courland, with its forests and wide fields, looks truly beautiful. After the cycling trip, you will travel by bus (approx. 120 km) to the well-known Latvian resort of Jurmala, where you can go for a walk. In the afternoon, you will reach the ‘Pearl of the Baltic’ - the capital of Latvia, Riga. This metropolis is rich in impressive Gothic, Renaissance and Art Nouveau buildings and is known for its vibrant Old Town.

A guided tour of the city is planned in the morning. In the afternoon, individual departure or extended stay in Riga.

Every day, you and your tour group (6 to 16 people) will be taken to the starting point of the cycling stage by bus transfer. You will then cycle at your own speed, following the maps. The support van will stay close at hand with an English-speaking tour guide.

Your travel documents usually include general travel information, a hotel list, a road book and/or detailed maps as well as a textual description of the route; you will also get luggage tags and possibly also vouchers and/or information material on the various sightseeing attractions. The exact contents of the information package depend on the booked trip and its included services.

The documents will be sent to you approx. two to three weeks before the start of your tour. Depending on the trip, you may receive them partly in digital form and partly by post – or you will receive the hotel list and general travel information in advance by e-mail, and the remaining documents along with the maps on site at your starting hotel.

Please note that the travel documents are issued exclusively for PEDALO guests and are therefore not available without a booking.

The transport of your luggage from hotel to hotel is included as part of the basic service package for all staged tours and round trips in the PEDALO programme. You simply leave your luggage out for our courier in the morning before you set off on your cycling stage. When you arrive at your next accommodation in the late afternoon or early evening, it will be there waiting for you.

Just in case, we recommend always packing a change of clothes in your saddle bag, especially for short stages which you may cover more quickly than the luggage driver.

Depending on how the logistics are organised on site, there may be restrictions on the maximum weight and/or number of pieces of luggage. You will receive more detailed information on this with the travel documents well before the start of your trip.

Travel insurance is not included in our prices. You can decide whether to get a quote elsewhere or simply book your travel insurance online at pedalo.com/en/service/travel-insurance. In any case, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance!

Please note that for last-minute bookings (less than 30 days before the start of the trip), insurance cover can only be taken out within 3 days of booking.
