For your 8-day round trip in the Strasbourg area

Arrival in Strasbourg, installation in the hotel and freetime to explore the town, its sumptuous Gothic cathedral and its historic center classified as a World Heritage Site.

From Strasbourg, you will cross the beautiful Jardin des Deux Rives to reach Kehl where your route on the German side of the Rhine begins. An easy and very flat stage, which will allow you to discover the Rhine forest and the pretty villages along the Rhine.

Pleasant bike paths will lead you through charming villages to Riegel and Emmendigen. A few more kilometers through the Landwasser forest and you will reach the city of Freiburg, capital of the Breisgau. From the top of the Schlossberg, you can watch the sun set over the roofs of the city and enjoy a beautiful panorama of the Vosges.

Via the "Breisgau-Radweg" bike path, you will head to the border town of Breisach. Here you can admire its cathedral, its city center and its picturesque alleys. On the French side, you will plunge into the history of the 17th and 18th centuries by visiting Neuf-Brisach, a Vauban stronghold listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will finally reach Colmar, capital of Alsace wines. Do not miss a walk through its exceptionally well-preserved historic center and a visit to the Unterlinden Museum, which houses the Issenheim Altarpiece, a masterpiece of Western art.

After a final tour through its medieval streets, you will leave Colmar in the direction of the vineyards. Your stage of the day will make you discover very beautiful villages: Eguisheim, Turckheim, Kaysersberg and Riquewihr. These pearls of the Wine Route are nestled between the vineyards of the Grands Crus of Alsace.

Today other beautiful villages and an itinerary that travels between the Vosges and the vineyards, on a beautiful bike path far from any traffic to fully enjoy the exceptional panorama. You will pass by Hunawihr, Ribeauvillé and Bergheim before arriving in Andlau, Barr or Obernai.

In Rosheim, you discover the Saints-Pierre-et-Paul church, one of the jewels of Alsatian Roman architecture. In Molsheim, you will join the bicycle path of the Bruche canal that will lead you to the heart of Strasbourg. The reunion with the European capital, its life style and its gastronomy, will conclude your stay in beauty.

Your travel documents usually include general travel information, a hotel list, a road book and/or detailed maps as well as a textual description of the route; you will also get luggage tags and possibly also vouchers and/or information material on the various sightseeing attractions. The exact contents of the information package depend on the booked trip and its included services.

The documents will be sent to you approx. two to three weeks before the start of your tour. Depending on the trip, you may receive them partly in digital form and partly by post – or you will receive the hotel list and general travel information in advance by e-mail, and the remaining documents along with the maps on site at your starting hotel.

Please note that the travel documents are issued exclusively for PEDALO guests and are therefore not available without a booking.

The transport of your luggage from hotel to hotel is included as part of the basic service package for all staged tours and round trips in the PEDALO programme. You simply leave your luggage out for our courier in the morning before you set off on your cycling stage. When you arrive at your next accommodation in the late afternoon or early evening, it will be there waiting for you.

Just in case, we recommend always packing a change of clothes in your saddle bag, especially for short stages which you may cover more quickly than the luggage driver.

Depending on how the logistics are organised on site, there may be restrictions on the maximum weight and/or number of pieces of luggage. You will receive more detailed information on this with the travel documents well before the start of your trip.

Travel insurance is not included in our prices. You can decide whether to get a quote elsewhere or simply book your travel insurance online at pedalo.com/en/service/travel-insurance. In any case, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance!

Please note that for last-minute bookings (less than 30 days before the start of the trip), insurance cover can only be taken out within 3 days of booking.
